KSA referendum -- is our CFS membership worth $150,000/year?

What is the CFS?

The Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) is a provincial and national student organization that seeks to advocate for students across the country. It organizes major advocacy campaigns (the National Day of Action, No Means No, I am CFS) and also provides services (Travel CUTS, StudentPhones, ISIC) to students at member student associations. The CFS represents (on paper) over 500,000 students at more than 80 Canadian student unions, including the 17,000 students that currently attend Kwantlen University College.

The CFS is composed of several 'independent' legal entities:
  • the CFS (commonly referred to as CFS national)
  • CFS-Services (the national CFS body that provides their many services), and
  • several provincial components (such as CFS-BC).
As a student at Kwantlen, you are paying for the CFS! Every year, we send over $150,000 to the CFS and CFS-BC.

On April 8, 9 and 10, 2008, you can vote on your membership in the CFS. We want every Kwantlen student to vote. Stay tuned for more campaign messages heading to your Kwantlen campus!
